November trip.

I took a few days vacation from work to enjoy the last days of autumn, to get away from the big city, to enjoy my family and kiss my little ones more often.

Then on Friday my husband fell off a ladder and broke his ribs. So there goes my vacation plans. But we still got away for a day into the mountains and breathed the cold crisp air, looked at beauty and thanked God for his generosity with the colors of autumn. My husband stayed in a hotel room and rested with our 9 month old baby girl, while I went on long walks with my 5 year old, and my 2 1/2 year old. We had a nice time.

On our way back we stopped at a little river where the trees were majestically golden, after resting a bit and smelling the wonderful scent of dry leaves and grass, wet earth and rocks we continued home.

Its nice to be home and nothing makes you appreciate your own bed, and your own space as going away into a tiny hotel room, where we all had to share one room, and the not so comfortable beds of the hotel.

So everything went well, if I don’t count that the trip was cut short due to my husbands injury, my 2 year olds crying and wanting to go home in the middle of the night, my 5 year old throwing up on our way home all over my car, and the baby not wanting to sit in her car seat, and cried every time she had to sit in there.... But it was nice to get away... Thank God I am home...:)

Summer...

What is summer to you?

Here it is very hot, and to me summer is water, water, and more water. Today we got a heat wave passing through the city. Outside it is a smoldering, melting 108F... We took the kids to the lake earlier in the day, the water was warm near the shore, and only in the deeper parts it was colder.

How do people stay cool in this heat? Well, we drink lots of water, eat cold watermelon, and lots of ice cream. I try to cook only early in the morning or late evening, and during the day we eat sandwiches, salads, and lots of fruit.

To enjoy summer we do lots of fun things with the kids, take them to water parks, lakes, and rivers. Every season brings something special to us, so what does summer means to you?
