The tree is getting older.

With each new year we get older, smarter, wiser and understanding. Like a tree we change with each new season, beautiful and unique in each phase of life. The bark on a tree tells of its time, the weather it had to endure, and the pest or diseases it survived. Just like a tree we bear scars from different battles, struggles, pain we had to endure.
Psa 52:8
Mat 7:17
God likes to compare us to trees. He wants us to be trees that bear fruit. Not spruce trees, or pine trees. Those only bear needles. Sure they are pretty to look at, but to God- he prefers a fruit tree.

Mat 7:19

Mat 12:33

So that when we are really-really old, we wont look like this little tree. I hope each year we grow in beauty, in wisdom, and in love for our Lord and Savior.
"Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad, for the tree is known by its fruit.
Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit.
But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God. I trust in the steadfast love of God forever and ever.

When walking through the wilderness of life.

Psa 63:1
A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. Psa 63:2 So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory. Psa 63:3 Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. Psa 63:4 So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands. Psa 63:5 My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food, and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips, Psa 63:6 when I remember you upon my bed, and meditate on you in the watches of the night; Psa 63:7 for you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy. Psa 63:8

Sometimes our life is so hectic, so busy, so parched from all the many things we need to do and to accomplish. Sometimes we feel that we are walking in this wilderness of life, a season of drought, sometimes of sadness and despair. We seek God, we look around, wondering if God can hear us.

Oh, how often I lose sight of God, of his promises, his goodness and grace. How often I feel sad, lost and not really sure where I am going or what am I supposed to be doing. Who am I as a woman? A wife, a mother, a working employee, lost in the traffic of everyday noise. I love it when God points his light on me, and I can see myself in his goodness, his power, makes me fall to my knees in gratefulness, in remembrance of who I am and what I am supposed to be. I am so glad God keeps track of all the minor details, all the wasted hours and all the flutter of every breath.

If only I would seek His holy face everyday for guidance and wisdom, maybe then I wont be struggling so hard in this wilderness of life. I love the psalm above which portrays the way David was seeking God. Thinking about him, pondering about his truths, clinging to God, thirsting for Him.... if only I could be like that... possibly then I can sing with joy.

Are you seeking God?... seek Him and He will be found by you.
My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.

Snow in the woods.

We took the girls up into the mountains, into the woods to see some snow. Down in the valley where we live, we hardly ever get snow.

 The first thing the oldest girls did, was making a snow angels.

The baby wasn't very trilled about snow, and wanted us to carry her all around.

I have everything I need in Him.

I give thanks to my God always for you
because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus, that in every way you were enriched in him in all speech and all knowledge-- even as the testimony about Christ was confirmed among you-- so that you are not lacking in any spiritual gift, as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ,  God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
 ~~~1 Cor 1:4-9
We have grace of God through Jesus.
We are enriched in every way in Jesus, in speech and in all knowlege.
We are not lacking in any spiritual gift in Jesus.
He will sustain us to the end.
God is faithful. He never changes. I am so glad.
A wonderful post I read at http://www.aholyexperience.com/2010/12/why-you-really-are-going-to-get-through/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+HolyExperience+%28Holy+Experience%29
Rom 15:13
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Winter.
What does winter mean to you? To me winter is the cold, the rain, the music, the lights, the singing, the gifts, going to church.....
Winter is wearing soft, warm socks. Looking for sheep skinned boots, snuggling under a blanket, watching the fire dance in the fireplace....
Winter is wishing for sun, wishing for warmth, wishing for snow, wishing for a lot, but getting less.
Winter is praying more, praying for peace, for light, for salvation, for redemption, for a gift that we receive...
Winter is ice on the road, getting a cold, and no school on winter break for my girl....
Winter is a season of sleep, of rest, of drinking more hot tea, its wearing more layers to keep the cold out and hugging your family closer...
I wish you a happy, warm winter!!! And maybe snow too. :)
